Advanced practical techniques and skills workshop linked to contextual research and schemes of work.
This course is aimed at textiles and art teachers who are either new to teaching GCSE/A Level Art & Design or those who want to develop exciting new ideas for schemes of work and improve exam results.
Previous attendees will get the opportunity to learn and practice more advanced and new skills and further develop fresh, innovative ideas for schemes of work. (NB Please contact before booking if attended previous courses)

- Develop learning from KS3, creating independent, confident and enthusiastic learners at KS4/5.
- Promote, gain recognition and improve the uptake of your subject and establish a presence in the school and the community.

What to expect on the day:
Morning Session: Developing skills and techniques
- Innovative ways in which students can explore, investigate and express ideas through drawing and mark making from primary sources, expelling the myths of ‘I can’t draw’.
- Ideas for themes and schemes of work.
- Techniques and processes across all areas of study incl. constructed, printed, digital and fashion.
- Innovative use of the heat press.
- Advancing contextual ideas using a variety of techniques incl. freehand machine embroidery and sublimation printing.
Links to KS4 Art & design Specifications: ‘students will be able to develop a range of drawing techniques and processes in order to communicate developing ideas clearly whilst exploring ideas visually, through the act of mark-making…..observations experimenting with various tools, materials and techniques’.
Afternoon Session: Developing mark making and primary research into refined ideas for practical outcomes linked to a variety of artists and designers.
- Exploring new innovative artists, designers and craftspeople.
- How to relate these artists and designers to creative practical workshops and outcomes.
- Taking mark making through the creative process to an outcome.
